Adeleen Cloete of Firepetals
Born 1970, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Adi studied Jewellery Design for 2 years at the University of Stellenbosch after which she decided to do an apprenticeship in jewellery manufacturing with Galaxy Manufacturing Jewellers, where she gained experience in modelmaking.
In 1997 she started to work for herself and traded under the name Labyrinth, meaning ?journey?.
In 2004 she spent 6 months in India, after winning a Commonwealth Arts & Crafts Award. This gave her the opportunity to work closely with craftsmen and students at the Jewellery Design & Technology Institute in Noida, towards an exhibition which was held in Delhi. This included a group project with students, where beadwork as an African influence and kundan, as an Indian influence were combined.
